NCP says family can’t live without power
Senior Congressman and former Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil submitted his resignation as a member of the Lower House to Speaker Haribhau Bagde on Tuesday.
The move comes days after Mr.Vikhe-Patil asked his staff to wrap up proceedings in the office of the LoP. Reports have emerged that he will join the BJP with some Congress MLAs, and may even be inducted in the State Cabinet.
Newly elected BJP MPs Girish Bapat (Pune) and Unmesh Patil (Jalgaon) also resigned from the Assembly on Tuesday.
Mr.Vikhe-Patil’s son Sujay joined the BJP before the Lok Sabha elections.
The NCP criticised Mr. Vikhe-Patil. “Be his father or his past actions, everything proves that Vikhe-Patil family cannot live without power,” NCP national spokesperson Nawab Malik said.
